Birthday weekend in pictures

As I mentioned before, it was Nina's b-day this weekend. It was a real blast. The weather was great, we had so much fun and so much delicious food. I baked some colourful b-day muffins for children so it was a good chance for me to practice :)  The  birthday girl enjoyed the party a lot. That's more or less what it all looked like.Sorry for the photo overload I just had to post them all.

Flip doll

It's Nina's b-day this weekend. It didn't take us long to come up with an idea for a present. A while ago I met (unfortulately only virtually) this great doll maker and blogger Agata. I instantly fell in love with all the dolls. They are all hand-made but what makes them special is that they are in fact 2 dolls in 1. Well, that's probably something you figured out from the title of the post, didn't you?:) It took me a while to choose a doll though. They are all so pretty...and that got me thinking...am I the worst aunt ever?...I really want to make Nina happy but at the same time I feel slightly jealous when I realise I'll have to say goodbye to the doll so soon.

Here are just z few more examples of Agata's (miszkomaszko) dolls. To check out more go here or here and also here

Everybody needs a break

Writing our thesis is drawing to an end so slowly and the deadline is so near. We literally have no time for anything. The pile of washed but ready-to-be-ironed clothes is getting bigger and bigger. I don't even wan't to mention the pile that has grown in the kitchen sink (oh how I wish I had a dishwasher). So, the time we can devote to cooking is also very limited. Everything has to be quick and cook itself and because it's so hot outside it has to be something super light and preferably not too hot. We found the perfect recipe. Couscous stuffed baked tomatoes. All you need to do is stuff them with couscous mixed with anything you have in the fridge. I used the tomato pulp I scooped out, some dried tomatoes, parsley, onion, olive oil and spices. I put a bit of sour cream on top and sprinkled it with parmesan cheese mixed with bread crumbs to make it more crispy. I left it in the oven for 20mins. That's it! perfect lunch for busy people :)

 Some flowers on our balcony.

Weekend in pictures

Last weekend was rather unusual...it was sunny and hot! Oh dear, I nearly forgot how it is to sunbathe and to spend most of the day outside. I hope you all had a similar experience. This is mostly what we have been up to this weekend..while taking a break from writing of course. Sunbathing, eating, playing and just enjoying ourselves.

Pancakes for breakfast...on the terrace!

Cuddle time with our niece.

and even more cuddles with Ginger, she's never tired of those.

For the first time this summer we sat outside after the sunset...

...admired the beautiful sky full of stars...

...and then had our own galaxy far far away in our bedroom.

I wish this summer could stay for a little longer.
