Is it just me or do you also wish a day was longer? I don’t have a regular 9 to 5 job which I must admit I’m usually thankful for but there are times I miss days when everything was in order, a total routine, I wake up, take a shower, go to work, sit at a desk for 8 hours, go back home, do some chores, watch a movie and go to sleep waiting for another day to come. Personally, I sometimes need this kind of routine, just like an infant :) Somehow it makes my day more organized and from my own experience the less time I have the more to dos I can squeeze in. I’ve worked in quite a few small companies but I’ve also had a chance to work in a corporation. Now I have a different job giving private english lessons, some at home, some out of doors. I must say I truly love it.
I don’t want to lie, especially to myself, I do have problems concentrating on work at home sometimes. There are quite a few things that distract me here like dishes that need to be washed or shelves that need dusting. Well, but once I get these things over with I sit down and work. Apart from my regular job I still have my thesis to write and ocasionally some translations to do. The big disadvantage of my work is that I hardly ever have all the lessons in a row which makes organizing my day more difficult. I have gaps between the lessons and sometimes it’s only enough to get to another place.
Last night I visited my friend and we had a long, comforting chat about this and lots of other stuff. She’s also a teacher and she does exactly what I do. We considered all the pluses and minuses of a job like this and generally of being your own boss. In the end having a tiny but own company won. On the other hand is it something I really want to do for the next 10 years?
What are your opinions on this?Do you find your job rewarding and satisfying?
I wish everyone a good day at work.!!!
